Across museums, biennials, publishing, pedagogy, public space, and multiple disciplines, her ecosystemic approach attends to the relationships, resources, and contexts through which artistic practice takes shape, resonates, and contributes to renewed forms of public life — guided by a central question: how can art institutions strengthen the cultural, social, and ecological conditions that sustain possibility over time?
Lemos curated Contour Biennale 11 in Mechelen, Belgium (2026), a city-wide exhibition presented across multiple sites. From 2021–24, she was Curator at TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary and TBA21–Academy, where she initiated an international programme of fellowships, commissions, residencies, and convenings centred on ecological and community-based practices. At Nottingham Contemporary (2018–21), Lemos served as Curator of Public Programmes and Research, developing long-term live and research-led initiatives across artistic, academic, and public contexts, including the multi-year Sonic Continuum, exploring the sonic and its relationship to social change.
Previously, Lemos was Associate Curator of the 2nd Riga Biennial, Associate Curator at Galeria Municipal do Porto, and part of the curatorial team of Contour Biennale 8 (2017). As an independent curator, she has collaborated with hundreds of artists, dozens of researchers, and institutions across two continents, including Max Planck Institute, MIT, Culturgest, Serralves Museum, FRAC Sud, Kunstinstituut Melly, MACBA, MAMBA, and Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
She has edited books including The Eyes of the Heart and the Soul of the World (Bom Dia Books, 2026), Reluctant Gardener (Bom Dia Books, 2025), Meandering: Art, Ecology, and Metaphysics (Sternberg Press, 2024), Sonic Continuum (Nottingham Contemporary, 2021), and Metabolic Rifts (Anagram, 2019, with Alexandra Balona). She lectures regularly, serves on international juries, and contributes to publications on contemporary art, ecology, and institutional practice.
